After working on this darn rock wall for over a year, I am very happy to say that it is finally DONE! I thought the day would never come, but I finished the wall on Sunday and this afternoon I took a very short, somewhat shaky video of the finished product to share with you. My phone has virtually no data storage left, and therefore 15 seconds of footage was all I could get before it cut me off. It's probably better that way. A 5 minute video of a rock wall would be akin to watching paint dry. So without further ado, I present to you our finished retaining wall:
Now of course the space won't really be finished until we plant a veggie garden on top and fence it out, but at least the very tedious wall building and dirt filling in portion of the project is done. In the meantime, Josh has taken to calling me "Muscles Ferrante":)

You make me chuckle Claire and I love your enthusiasm. The wall looks incredible (& it is!) and you will smile (well almost) everytime you look at it. I love keeping up with your exploits. Once again, bravo my dear.

ReplyDeleteRock Retaining Walls in St. George
This is a great article and I love the rock wall you built. I just had my patio done in our back yard and it looks really nice. However, we have a rough terrain because their is a steep hill right behind the back of the patio. We decided to building a retaining wall to help block that side off. It really turned out nice because it gives our back yard a more organized feel. I was told to try Roxbury Hardscaping Center because they built great new jersey retaining walls and I am glad I did.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you cos you have finished retaining the walls but too bad for me got a problem in finishing it dont know how.

I really like the rock style for retaining walls. I grew up in a house with a few retaining walls made of rock. I think it just adds to the beauty of the house. When I get my wall for my new house, I want it to do more than just keep the yard from falling but also make the yard look like a paradise.
