Quit Your Day Job
Each month Etsy features a seller who has left their day job to pursue their Etsy shop full time. In some crazy stroke of luck, Little Dog Vintage was selected for the Quit Your Day Job feature this month, and the article went up this morning. The article covers topics ranging from pricing vintage, to building photo displays and getting a shop started. Head over to the Etsy Blog to read the full post!
Update: The post has now been up all day, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for all of the kind and encouraging comments on both the Etsy Blog and here. I want you all to know that this type of feedback means the world to me and really does keep me going. Some days are not easy, and I wonder what the heck I was thinking making such a huge change, but the positivity today is blowing me away. Thank you everyone!

so excited for you.... and it's so well-deserved, too.
ReplyDeletecongrats!
(will you be celebrating by adding a few more rocks to the wall? oh, ps... i was watching this old house and their tile installers wore t-shirts that said - ferrante tile. i thought after your basement remodel, you probably should have one of those to feel super-official.)

I love your blog and your courage in choosing what you want out of life!
ReplyDeleteI have just started weaving too! I found an old loom on craigslist and made a sampler/table runner..plus I have 2 rat terriers (my sister has the border collie/herding dogs...
My plan is to do exactly what you have done..I'm working my way 'round to buying some and and thinking of different ways to supplement my income..your journey is inspiring and motivating..so glad I found your blog and etsy shop..
I meant to say "buying some land"...
ReplyDeleteCongrats! It certainly does work; I followed you from there ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and Etsy shop! You find such amazing things! And your photography is spot on!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Regina! Josh keeps saying he's going to have a shirt made for me that says "Muscles Ferrante", mostly because I'm kind of a clumsy weakling.
ReplyDeleteI miss following you on the blog & seeing the pictures of your house (btw what you're building is basically the house of my dreams). Hope all is well. Take care & thanks for the comment!
Arlene, Thanks for the kind words, and best of luck on your journey! Aren't rat terriers the best?
ReplyDeleteHi Claire,
ReplyDeleteI just want to let you know how much the article on Etsy has reenergized and inspired me. I quit my day job last August, but I am 50 years old and had no built up savings. I felt I had nothing to lose, and it was now or never. I have had some great moments, but overall it has been a long, hard winter. But I love what I'm doing - I paint vintage furniture, and sell smaller items on etsy (Essex Cottage). I only have 4 items there now, but will be putting up a bunch soon.
Stick with it! It is fabulous you have started so young. I am pulling for you, and I wish you all the best!

You're such a star.
ReplyDeleteHappy to be your #1 stalker, always. When I move into a beach house with you-know-who in Sept...I will need an inspirational piece for our home :)
Tracked you down from the Etsy feature! I've done the opposite and left rural upstate NY for Manhattan! Etsy seems to focus more on the handmade shops, so it was especially inspiring to hear of your success in the vintage catagory. Best wishes!
